This all started in year 2003 when Prof. Dr. Zahid Yasin Hashmi, Head of Medicine Deptt. Allied Hospital Faisalabad conceived the idea of establishing a medical centre exclusively for the patients suffering from Liver diseases.
About 500 million individuals currently are suffering from hepatitis B or C worldwide Among Pakistanis 12 % person having hepatitis B or C. About one third beds of every teaching hospital are occupied by the liver related patients. In Faisalabad the prevalence of Hepatitis C is 22 %, and marked as RED Belt by United Nations. There is no single centre, in Punjab which is specifically or purpose fully built for such patients.
Infrastructure:
The Hospital is situated in the vicinity of District Head Quarter Hospital in Faisalabad by the Liver Foundation Trust (an NGO established and registered in June 2003) since then it is improving day by day and providing round the clock services to the poor and deserving patients of liver diseases.
The Board of trustees and the executive committee meets at regular intervals to monitor and discuss the day to day running affairs and future plans.
Objectives:
- To provide complete, best outdoor, indoor ICU and other related emergency services to the poor and deserving patients of liver deceases.
- To asses and diagnose the patients of liver diseases in error free highly equipped liver lab.
- To provide diagnostic and therapeutical procedures like OGD, Sclerotherapy, Band Ligation, ERCP, Tips etc.
- To provide antiviral and other medicines and materials regarding the preventive and curative aspects of the deceases.
- Create awareness through lectures, seminars and print media and all other means for the prevention of the disease.
- Promote research in the field of liver disease.
- To establish Liver Transplant centre.
